Halloween Happenings at Clearbrook Park Friday & Saturday, October 16th & 17th
It's that time of year again! Visual Link Internet is once again sponsoring the Frederick County Parks and Recreation's Halloween events at Clearbrook Park.

Clearbrook Park will undergo its annual transformation into the areas premier Haunted Halloween destination for the entire family!

And have no fear, 'not so spooky' hay rides will be alternated in for younger ghosts and goblins.

Phishing Email
Recently there has been a dramatic increase in web forgeries and email phishing. Several customers have contacted us about an email claiming to be from Visual Link, which instructs individuals to visit a site and run a program to ensure proper operation of email.

These emails are not from us, and are, in fact, bogus "phishing" emails. They are designed to trick people into running a malicious program which can infect their computer with viruses and other malware, and/or compromise their passwords.

Visual Link will never contact you via email and ask you to download a program, or provide any personal account information online. Any email that asks you to do these things should be treated as a forgery, and you should never download or run any program, or provide any personal information, when instructed from an email you did not initiate.

If you have received one of these emails, we suggest you forward a copy to support@visuallink.com and delete your copy. If you have already clicked on the link and have downloaded and run the program, or entered any personal information, we suggest you contact us at your earliest convenience at technical support: 540-754-1566

More Wireless Broadband Coverage and New Equipment
We are pleased to announce that we are increasing our wireless coverage in Clarke and Frederick counties - we have four new broadcast locations coming online this fall. And our new tower site in northern Frederick County is now online - this tower provides coverage to homes and businesses around 522 North in Frederick County and parts of Hampshire County, WV.

We have also been testing new equipment that not only increases the distance of our wireless broadband, but also lowers the set up costs for new wireless broadband customers. Look for more news about this equipment soon. And we are continuing to search for, and find ways to make broadband Internet service more affordable and available throughout our region.

Postini Spam Filter Update and Price Change
Postini has been purchased by Google and, unfortunately, the price for this email spam and virus filtering service has increased. Price increases are necessary due to the immense volume of spam and virus-laden email on the Internet. Because of this increase, our spam filtering service price will go up from 50 cents to $1.00 dollar per email address. This price increase will take effect on January 1, 2010.

Channel 6 on the Internet

Visual Link Internet and WINC Radio have now brought the Winchester Cable Channel 6 to the Internet.

The new Internet home of Channel 6 is http://www.winchesternews.com

Winchesternews.com will become an up-to-date local news and event online information service. We welcome your input and announcements of births, marriages, deaths, or any other news articles about our local community and its citizens. We hope to provide a section about things to do in our area, and welcome local links.

Affordable Wind and Solar Power
As many of our customers know, Visual Link Internet has been demonstrating Wind and Solar power solutions at events in our area over the last year. We were excited by the number of people interested in lowering power costs and greenhouse gases. The stumbling block was always that the cost of the grid tie system needed to connect the solar and wind power equipment to the power base in a home was very expensive. We are now offering micro grid tie systems that will make it more cost effective and simpler to use solar and wind power to start lowering your power bills and help cut down on greenhouse gasses. We will be adding more information and pricing to our web site soon.
