Visual Link » Support » Software Setup » Email Setup Menu » Outlook 2002 Setup
STEP 1: Tell G-mail to enable Outlook Express to retrieve messages:
(Scroll down below the picture for instructions)
-
Log in to your mail account at http://webmail.visuallink.com
-
Agree to the license agreement if presented with one.
-
Click Settings at the top of any mail page.
-
Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP in the orange Mail Settings box.
-
Select Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
-
Choose the action you'd like your messages to take after they are accessed with POP. We suggest the option to “archive Visual Link Internet Enhanced Mail's copy”.
-
Click Save Changes. Once the changes are saved it may take 10 minutes to an hour for the changes to take effect.
Did you click 'Save Changes' after enabling POP in your mail account? To ensure that your account can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click 'Save Changes' on the 'Mail Settings' page.
STEP 2: To set up your Outlook 2002 client to work with Gmail:
- Open Outlook.
- Click the Tools menu, and select Accounts...
- If your account is already configured with our old mail settings click Remove to remove them.
- Click Add, and then click Mail...
- Enter your name in the Display name: field, and click Next.
- Enter your full Visual Link email address (username@visuallink.com) in the Email address: field, and click Next.
- Enter 'pop.gmail.com' in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: field.
- Click Next
- Enter your full email address (including '@visuallink.com') in the Account name: field. Enter your email password in the Password: field, and click Next.
- Click Finish.
- Highlight pop.gmail.com under Account, and click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- Enter '465' in the Outgoing mail (SMTP): field.
- Under Incoming mail (POP3), check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL). The port will change to '995'.
- Click the Servers tab, and check the box next to My server requires authentication.
- Click OK.
- Download all current updates for Outlook 2002 from Microsoft. This will help prevent the most common Outlook errors Gmail users see.
Congratulations! Once you have completed both steps you are done configuring Outlook 2002.
