Visual Link now offers both Wireless and DSL broadband services!
As of February 2008, Visual Link Internet has added DSL broadband service. This new service combined with our Wireless Broadband coverage allows us the largest coverage of broadband service in Frederick and Clarke counties in Virginia and Morgan County in West Virginia. We offer Wireless Broadband in Hampshire County, but currently do not offer DSL in Hampshire County. Visual Link Internet - going green!
Visual Link Internet is in the process of powering all of our Wireless Internet tower sites by both solar and wind. When this upgrade is finished this spring, our wireless network will be one of the greenest methods of receiving broadband Internet available. This will also allow us to be more reliable than commercial power to mountain top locations. Visual Link has always been interested in energy savings, in fact we designed our data center to be energy efficient back in 1999. We use the heat produced by our computers in our data center to help heat the building in winter. This has resulted in both savings on cooling costs of the data center and heating costs of our office.
Wireless Internet.
Enhanced Wireless
Visual Link Internet is now adding an enhanced wireless service with greater coverage range and performance. This new system operates in a completely different frequency from our current 2.4 GHz network. This system is based on the same advanced technology as our licensed 2.5 GHz WIMAX projects, but operates in a non licensed frequency. We will be offering this first in Clarke County Virginia. The service is scheduled to be available later this spring in Frederick County Virginia and Hampshire and Morgan Counties in West Virginia. The system has the same line of site requirements of our current network, but has more than twice the range and greater network performance. We do not plan to replace our current network, this new technology will simply give our customers more choices. This new service will also be beneficial in locations where noise and interference in the 2.4 GHz range is causing poor network performance. We will have more information on pricing of service and equipment costs on our web site soon.
